    The Youth in Tanzania According to the 2012 population census by the National Bureau of Statistics, the youth group aged 15 to 34 years constitutes 33 percent of the population, while that aged 15 to 24 years, which is the EAYIP focus, accounts for 17 percent of the population. Two thirds of this population is rural based and engage in land-based economic undertakings: agriculture (crops, livestock, fisheries, and forestry), agro-processing and other value addition along the agribusiness value chain.
