Newsletter July - December 2017.

    We are pleased to share with you key events in a snap shots through this second edition of the newsletter which covers the second half of the year 2017, the events which re-surfacing within the Strategic Research and Publications, Governance and capacity Development, Commissioned Studies, Knowledge Management and Innovation and the Human Resources and Administration Departments.

    As always the period was marked with innumerable exciting and memorable events. The Foundation witnessed the untimely death of its key staff member Mr. Abdallah Hassan who passed away on 12th September 2017. Words cannot fully convey the grief we feel after learning about the passing of Mr. Hassan. The Editorial Team would like to extend condolences to Hassan’s Family.

    During the period between July and December, the Strategic Research and Publications continued to implement in total five projects, to mention the few; “Developing an Integrated Communications Strategy for the National Plan of Action to End Violence Against Women and Children In Tanzania, 2017/18-2021/22”, which is done in collaboration with Without Violence based in Germany; The State of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Tanzania and Optimal Interventions. This project aims to assess the current state of NCDs (Diabetes and Cancer), and map the optimal preventive interventions to reduce NCDs prevalence in Tanzania. Practical Norms in Education and Health Sectors aims at explaining ways to improve service delivery and levels of integrity by drawing empirical evidence on practical informal norms in key government departments etc. The Department also prepared some publications; policy briefs, discussion papers, Quarterly Economic Reviews etc.
